Thankful
I haven’t had a real post in quite sometime. Yesterday a tornado came down S. Saunders and ravaged my neighborhood. I am so thankful for coming out of this storm unscathed and with relatively little property damage, the same of which can’t be said for my next door neighbors. It is unreal how much damage has been done by something that lasted only a couple minutes. This is the worst natural disaster I have personally lived through (I was too young to remember some of the hurricanes). It is definitely a perspective changer. My entire reality was shaken in a matter of minutes, I can only fathom the horrors of those that have experienced much worse than we have lately. The death count is extremely low compared to other recent world disasters. That being said I am extremely proud to be a resident of south east Raleigh. It is an encouragement to see neighbors reaching out and taking care of one another. Also an extra special thanks to the people of Vintage 21 and the amount of help they gave to residents in need in this area and their commitment to continue to labor for this area during this time. I feel privileged to be a part of this community, both this area of Raleigh and Vintage 21. Please keep the people of Raleigh in your thoughts prayers over the next week and coming months as people regroup and recover from the damage.
